Victory4All Ministries
Jeffreysbaai, South Africa
Faith, hope, love… and soccer
One late evening in December of 2015, as we were all stuffing our faces with honey baked ham and macaroni and cheese, I heard stories about this trip to South Africa to work with kids. At the time, I had no idea the impact that this one conversation would have on my life. Each Spring, since 2016, I boarded a day-long flight to the eastern cape of South Africa to a small town called Jeffreysbaai. Greeted with the most effervescent welcome from the the founder of Victory4All Ministries, Johan (see below), our teams embark on a week-long journey to engage with the incredible work that he and his team are doing in this region.
Since 2003, Victory4All has been working to create a better future for children from the local areas of Jeffrey’s Bay and Humansdorp through providing education and resources for over 550 students from local communities. As noted in the video above, education is not accessible to all. Years of apartheid has drastically shaped the social and educational spheres in South Africa, particularly affecting the colored and black populations. Victory4All provides a safe place for education and helps to foster life skills for the next generation really filling them with hope for their future.
Our role each year was small, to support the organization with anything they needed. We photographed and filmed for their website and fundraising newsletters. We painted foster houses, classrooms, and playground equipment. We led worship and participated in prayer meetings. Each year, a new experience, unique to the needs of the organization, the students, and teachers.
