Hi there. I’m Amanda, the founder of fl~xscapes.
I am a researcher, photographer, and designer at many scales from the pixel to the region. Over the past decade, I have been fortunate to partner with entrepreneurs and small businesses to bring to life budding business ideas, curating aesthetics through graphic design, web design, and photography. My passion is working with other creative minds on challenging issues and working collectively to come up with solutions. I am currently utilizing animation and GIS to map the peri-urban landscape in Bengaluru, India for a Fulbright Research Fellowship. Read more about that journey in my “Field Notes”.
Raised in a cloud of sawdust, my life was crafted out of wood, laughter, and exploration. Daughter of a maker and a poet, I was scheming up fantasy lands and building them in the trees outside my dad's house at a very young age. Inside the house, I served as a construction assistant and residential design consultant at the age of eight for the life-long project of my father's home. At my mom’s house, my ears were drenched with beautiful sounds of southern blues from wailing guitars to soulful melodies. My love of design and making has taken me from nerding out in geometry class in high school to studying architecture for seven years (go vols.) I love the art of translating an idea into reality and that takes many forms. I believe I have been designed to be a collector of ideas, songs, and landscapes.
